Dr. Dennis Goodman MD, FACP, FACC, FCCP

 
  Originally from South Africa ...  
 
  Dr. Goodman was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He attended medical school at the University of Cape Town, graduated in 1979 Cum Laude and then completed his internship in medicine at Grootte Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. This is the same hospital where the first heart transplant was performed by Christian Barnard in 1968.  
 
  On to the United States ...  
 
  Dr. Goodman immigrated to the United States and completed his internal medicine residency. He was appointed Chief Medical Resident at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 1981–1984. He completed his cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During that time he was closely associated with the cardiac surgery program under Dr. Michael Debakey (1984-1987), a professional who has become known as the father of modern cardiovascular surgery.  
 
  California bound ...  
 
  California was where Dr. Goodman chose to begin his private practice as a cardiologist. He served as the Chief of Cardiology and Medical Director of Cardiac Treatment Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California from 2002-2005 and is presently a physician team-member of Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. In addition to this, Dr. Goodman:

Is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of California, San Diego.

Serves on the board of the American College of Cardiology and currently is on the board of governors of the American Heart Association®.

Is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Holistic Medicine and Critical Care.

  Dr. Goodman has lectured extensively both within the USA and abroad (Europe, Canada South Africa and Asia), where he has been a visiting professor on several occasions. His areas of major clinical research and interest include many aspects of preventative cardiology, and the role of complimentary medicine and nutritional supplements in regard to heart health. He has also been a guest on many TV and radio shows.
